NCV8876 non-synchronous boost controller won the "Technology Innovation Award" of the magazine's technology group, demonstrating the company's leading position in providing innovative automotive solutions

October 8, 2013- Automotive-grade start-stop asynchronous boost controller NCV8876 for ON Semiconductor (ON Semiconductor, NASDAQ stock code: ONNN) , which promotes energy-efficient innovation, won the 2013 Chinese car and parts "Technology Innovation Award" in the technical group of the Industry Development Innovation Award. The award is hosted and awarded by "Automobiles and Accessories", one of China's leading automobile magazines.

The award-winning NCV8876 is a non-synchronous boost controller for automotive start-stop systems, which is designed to provide the minimum output voltage when the car battery voltage dips. This controller drives external N-channel MOSFETs using peak current mode control with internal slope compensation. This IC integrates an internal voltage regulator to provide charge for the gate driver. Its protection functions include cycle-by-cycle current limiting, protection, and over-temperature shutdown. Other features include low quiescent current sleep mode operation. NCV8876 starts when the power supply voltage drops below 7.3 volts (V), and starts boosting when the power supply voltage falls below 6.8 V.
